Apple Business

Make the private Custom App available to your organisation, then choose managed installation or, for eligible Apple Business customers, redemption codes.

Installing Without MDM?

Read the redemption guide for eligibility, Apple code ordering and separate B2B activation. This route is offered through Apple Business; it is not available through Apple School Manager.

    Obtain the private app

    After we add your organisation, locate the B2B edition in Custom Apps and obtain the required app licences in Apps and Books. Store distribution licences and your ProSurvey device allowance are separate.

    Choose how to install

    For managed devices, sync the Apps and Books location with your MDM and assign the app. Apple Business customers can check whether the listing offers redemption codes for eligible personal Apple Accounts; Apple School Manager uses managed distribution. Verify availability for the actual app before planning a code rollout. Redemption has country restrictions, and redeemed licences cannot be reassigned like managed licences.

    Activate the B2B installation

    Use the separate ProSurvey activation code or QR setup pack after installation. With MDM, deliver the activationCode string as managed app configuration. An Apple redemption code installs the app; it is not a ProSurvey activation code.

Confirm the Pilot Before Expanding

On one phone or tablet, confirm the private B2B edition is installed and its installation reference appears in your B2B Account. Where Apple offers codes for your listing and organisation, the redemption route does not require a separate MDM.

For Managed Devices: Activation Configuration

In the portal, open your organisation → Activation Codes → QR & Setup Pack → MDM Configuration. Select your platform to download the relevant configuration. Keep actual codes and downloaded packs within your authorised team.

The configuration key is activationCode, with a String value. The value comes from your private setup pack; the example below is a placeholder.

Use the format required by your console: the portal offers iOS property-list/dictionary and Android JSON formats. Apply it to the private B2B edition, not the consumer app.
